Overview
Citizenship by investment is a statutory grant of nationality in return for a published contribution to the state, or an approved real-estate or business investment. The outcome is a passport. The family is included on the same application where the law allows.
These programmes do not ask the applicant to live in the country for years before the oath. Diligence is done on the person and on the money. The unit that administers the programme — a government citizenship unit, or a committee — approves the file, the investment is paid, and the passport is issued.
A second nationality is a planning instrument. It is travel, succession, and a second place to stand. It is not a replacement for the residence programmes in Europe; some families hold both.
